Happy gandhi jayanthi and Lal Bahaddur Shastri Jayanthi
We all remember the nations greatest freedom fighter , We all celebrate it with high vigour .
BUT
The nation is not made by A or The single person , we have easily forgotten many freedom fighters like Bose , Bhagat , Chandrashekar . It maybe the ;ack of part of nation to recognise or our lack of interest due to lack of a "NATIONAL HOLIDAY " , Which integrates or Whatever , Its also the birthday of Lal Bahaddur Shastriji ex prime minister and Freedom fighter of India . Lets also remember him with the Mahatma .

Camp in rain
Last time we camped in a pouring rain was egjactly 9 years back in doddaballapur . pouring rain leaky tent frightened scout mates . . . was fun .
this time it was a little different we had paid 10 times more for this camp . state of the art tents under a shed . . . was no fun
though we tried to do a scouting camp . we just couldnt . was too much luxury . but we did some river swiming . a failed effort to catch fish , where sharath tired to use sathya as bait . did a leeachy trek . it actually feels good to see our blood when it doesnt pain . one leech had the oppurtunity to travel with me till home . one sucked out sharath's wits out. was good over all. sad that couldnt doo rafting . after all coulnt ask more off "us" .
willing to go on an other camp . . .

RIVER CAMPING
Guys,
A few years back I visited this lovely little river camp on the banks of the river Bhadra. It is close to Chikkamagaluru and easily accessible by road.All-in-all, great place, great food, and great people! You get to trek through a tiger reserve (if you behave, Peter would take you through secret routes that only a few know of), do some angling in the river, listen to Peter's fascinating stories, or wear your lifejackets and swim from shore to shore. http://www.bhadrarivercamp.com/Home
MY Plan --
I personally plan to spend 2nights here and as you know i am not the one to be in such place without you guys.. Any body willing to join are most welcome.
The Group Plan --
We can have Rover-Ranger moot at this place so you guys decide and we should have it this monthend or early nextmonth.. I suggest Ammu and Vivek take the lead and plan for it
Looking forward to hear from you guys..
Cheers

Two sides of a coin
We live in a nation,
· Where Pizza reaches home faster than Ambulance, police,
· Where you get car loan @ 5% and education loan @ 12%,
· Where rice is Rs 40/- per kg but sim card is free,
· Where a millionaire can buy a cricket team instead of donating the money to any charity,
· Where the footwear, we wear, are sold in AC showrooms, but vegetables, that we eat, are sold on the footpath,
· Where everybody wants to be famous but nobody wants to follow the path to be famous,
· Where we make lemon juices with artificial flavours and dish wash liquids with real lemon.
· Where people are standing at tea stalls reading an article about child labour from a newspaper and say,"yaar bachhonse kaam karvane wale ko to phansi par chadha dena chahiye" and then they shout "Oye chhotu 2 chaii laao....."
Incredible India
- If Pizza is delivered by car or Tempo traveler then ambulance will reach faster, try to keep the traffic clear and the problem will be sorted.
- A car can be seized if loan is not paid but a student can’t be seized.
- Rice is 40/- kg but sim is free because sim has to be recharged for hundreds of rupees even after taking it for free
- A millionaire can buy a cricket team only to make money but on donating his hard earned money will be a fact
- Refer Reliance, Food World, More, Big Bazzar to see Vegetables in AC Showroom and Visit Jayanagar, Gandhinagar, Gandhi Bazzar to see footwear in foot path.
- Every one cannot follow the path to be famous because if every one does than the person who is not doing that becomes famous.
- U can always buy a lemon, cut it , squeeze it and add a teaspoon of sugar to it with required amount of water.:) the entire process hardly takes two mins and the expenditure will be 3 rs onl,y don’t have artificial flavors and encourage them(company) to do it again.
- A person at a tea stall can only employee a child to ensure the survival of that poor chap, he can’t make him his own son and send to a school saying that chhotu thoo school jaa. (stop population growth and poverty, chotu wont be at t stalls)

Who won ?
We played bowling "Championship " . Some people got a wild card entry . People were speculative of the " Persons " win .
Again it was no sport , but compitetion was good . The strikes dashed hopes of all . Its really good to watch a Ball duped , of others . . Good ones WON .
Nxt championship is mostly Badminton . Gear up to beat the "Person" again .

Ever wondered
When I joined scouting in BHSS; scouting to us was little different . we learnt Camping , Pioneering , Mapping and many more . It was about personlity building ; and we built it .
New things have come in now , we can do Bowling , Sea diving , Parasailing . . . .
If you have been in the Scouting movement in India for long enough ; you know it is hard to incorporate all those New things in movement .
But ; new is fun ; new is entertaining .
So we are incorporating the Scouting in the New . And so there is a Mafeking Bowling championship going on .
Last time , we played bowling at the Mafeking bowling championship , all the Ado about the bowling came true .
All the time i was playing i noticed how the bowling balls can go soo straigh , no matter who bowls . This makes it a more of entertainment than sports
Many played , but
Five probables are choosen ; according to scores they are
Waiting for the finals . Let the lucky person win .
Happy bowling

Adventures of a video making competation
A video had to be submitted for the compitation . Three months ahead . I tought of assisting a group of guides to make that video . We tought of putting up a good movie with the best of the sounds a motion picture and theme to reflect the birth of guiding and its sucess in India . Collected some ancient artifacts and photoes to reflect the movement's history . The intial idea was to make a guide speak through the history with all those photoes and a background score , she talking through the crystal palace rally and through the guiding she had been through . Isnt that idea "great " . Not soo much coz that didnt happen , there was a pretty good appreciation fpr what happened , and pretty good observation as in comments for the video . Today the video has won some compitation but it still is incomplete for me . I'm waiting for another compitation , and have learned a good lesson . Planning is good but Execution is the best thing that you can do . donot wait for tomorrow coz tommorow only comes when its too late .

Photo challenge - only 500 days left. It's time to get the creativity flowing!
On Sunday, March 14th, it is exactly 500 days left to the next mind-boggling World Scout Jamboree. In order to celebrate, we hereby create a small photo challenge:
Take a picture of yourself, alone or together with some of your fellow scouts.... The picture should contain something that indicates there's only 500 days left to the Jamboree. Feel free to take your photo in any location, but we would think it is extra nice if you could take at an interesting place in your own hometown.
When you are done, upload the picture to the Jamboree's fan page wall on Facebook, together with a note indicating where the picture was taken.
We would also be happy if you can send the picture by e-mail to post@jamboree2011.posterous.com as well.
By doing so, it will be published on the countdown picture blog http://jamboree2011.posterous.com/ within 12 hours.
Have a great weekend, and see you in Sweden 2011!

My TREK to the HEAVENS
The experience of romancing clouds, the beauty of the scenic curvy , the leech den, the thick forests, the lovely fluttering grasses under the blowing winds, the silent ranges of virgin mountains and many more... can be touched in the Kumara Parvatha trek. Kumara Parvatha is range of mountains starts in Kukke Subramanya, a small religious/spiritual town in Karnataka where the lord of Snakes -- Lord Subramanya abodes (Karthikeya, Murugan etc.with many names). This mountain originates from the mighty Western Ghats and extends to costal Karnataka and Kerala. People speak the local language Kannada and dialect Tulu. Kumara Parvatha is the 2nd highest peak in Karnataka with an altitude of around 5000 feet above sea level. This is one of the treks filled with stress & adventure ever had.
A superb guide had led us to the himalayas . back from the peaks of manali . i was longing to go to another trek . Just to discover this splendid peak to the kumaraparvatha . three teenage boys ,ME my BROTHER and his crazy friend from UPPINANGADI finished the trek of the life time the in monsoon of 2004 . Cant be going this time . Best of luck for this time trekkers. Make it memorable and , waiting for a better trek blog . . .

Activity
A complaint , a story , a gossip had been prevailed over the groups activity for a past few days .
What we really need is
A creative activity that could be a learning process where a pupil and children are located in the same individual
some thing like the ones in this web site
http://www.inquiry.net/
more ideas are appreciated .

Scouting and Guiding community
“When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music … and what it is to work with love ??? It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear it “
-Kahlil Gibran,The Prophet
Now that is the relationship of a scout/guide with the community.A scout is one who has the thought “How can I help?” rather than “What is in for me??”
We have a unifying promise and law which is kept up by every scout and guide. It goes a long way in the personality development of an individual.Scouting nurtures and moulds a person to be independent , responsible, society minded and finally a human being. It makes a person live rather than just exist.I think this very thought would not make any of them selfish and the very joy of giving begins. This would wipe out the tears and miseries on innocent faces. A scout / guide is a gift to the community.
A scout is so energetic and enthusiastic and eager to learn new things, to do new innovative things, this adds to the success of the task in hand. When he is working in a firm this would really help. Laziness is man’s biggest enemy, but defying laziness not deferring any task, planning and execution of the right activities at the right time… contributes a great deal towards nation building. If only we all had the scouting values, we would not be rated as one of the few most corrupt countries of the world!!!
Apart from improving himself,a scout puts his heart and soul in making the best for the others ,shows concern for all the communities through brotherhood and friendship .He does a good turn daily. There are numerous activities such as campaigns.haesth camps, rallies etc in which he takes part and conveys the best messages to the society. It could be about going green , keeping the city and surroundings clean,AIDS awareness, polio drops administration , prevention of certain endemic diseases like dengue, chickengunia etc or even anti tobacco rallies, everywhere you would find scouts and guides. That spirit of live and let live prevails over every scout .
“Leave this world a better place than you found it “ –Lord Baden Powel…. these few words are greatly acknowledged by all scouts. Wherever they go they would make a difference from the band wagon .It could be a little thing as using the dust bins or saying sorry/thanks to an extent of sacrificing his most prized possession .A scout would willingly help anybody. He is very reasonable and an aspirant for peace ,so there would be minimal number of disputes.
Scouting brings out the unique talents of each individual. It opens the doors of opportunity in all fields.IOt thus exposes a community’s talents and help them rise greater heights .
Lastly , my deepest desire would be that all of us should imbibe scouting values then the world would definitely be a better place to live in .As scouts/ guides we promise to commit ourselves to play an active role in creating a better world irrespective of our origin, religion , culture or gender .We promise to leave it better for our successors.
- AKHILA
